Santa and his elves are leaving the reindeer behind this year to offer kids and parents a one-of-a-kind boat trip on The Falkirk Wheel.
Annual maintenance works are underway at The Falkirk Wheel to ensure the world’s only rotating boat lift keeps on turning in 2014.
The extensive programme of maintenance and improvements covers everything from the Wheel’s mechanical systems and water pumps to its computer programmes.
The Falkirk Wheel will be closed for maintenance from Monday 4th November until Friday 29th November. Boat trips will not be running during this time but will recommence on Saturday 30th November. The Visitor Centre will remain open.
Falkirk Provost Pat Reid joined the first young volunteer participants of canal college at The Falkirk Wheel on Tuesday 11th June to celebrate the official start of the trailblazing canal-based skills training programme which will run for the next two years.
